This is a photo of the picturesque mountain town of Metsovo in the Epirus region of NW Greece. This town is known for its cheeses and sausages as well as the small, unique ethnic community called Vlachs. They are unique in that their language is a very rare, latin-derived language that has been spoken by these people in this region for hundreds of years.
This photo was taken on a cool (40-something degrees F) November day with the townspeople walking around the main square against the mountain background. Other than cropping for 11 x 14 size, this photo is presented as shot directly from camera. No edits have been performed.
