This is an abandoned truck or tractor at Smallwood's Harvest country store in the Cascades. It is used now as a very large flower pot. This photo was enhanced with an oil painting look as the original was taken from far away and just a little fuzzy. There were sprinklers surrounding it that were also removed from the photo. Taken with a Canon PowerShot G15.

This is a view of the ruins of the Imperial Palace of the abandoned city of Mystras near modern Sparta in the Greece. The stones used to build this city came from the famous ancient city of Sparta. The city was built in the middle ages and thrived for over 700 years. In this city, the last Eastern Roman Emperor was crowned. The city remained independent following the fall of Constantinople for another seven years until it also inevitably fell to the Ottoman Turks. Today, the only inhabitants of the city are nuns from the still operating monastery located inside the city. I shot this photo during my visit a year ago. It was early morning and overcast.

Ancient Pueblo people lived in these abodes from around year 700 to 1300s. The Canyon de Chelly is full of these carvings into the canyon walls. The area is the Canyon De Chelly National Park, but it is jointly managed with the Navajo people. About 40 Navajo families still live in the canyon. Access to the canyon is only with a Navajo guide. The Navajo guide will take you on a guided tour either on a jeep or horseback. WELL WORTH THE EXPERIENCE!

I liked all the circular shapes in this image from the steering wheel to the instruments on the dashboard to the knob on the gear shift lever. I though the cobweb between the steering wheel and gear shift knob personifies the abandoned theme. The broken drivers side window also show age and neglect. Even the ashtray on the right side of the dash exemplifies bygone days. I converted this to black and white to also give it an old timy feel. I shot this through a shattered window on the passenger side. Processing was done in LrC. The settings were 1/400, f-9, ISO 200, 16mm.

This is the Dimitrios shipwreck near the city of Githeo in the southern mainland of Greece. The ship has an interesting story, but to make a long story short, it was abandoned near the Githeo port. A month later, a storm swept the ship until it ran aground on 23rd December 1981. It has been sitting at this picturesque location since then. I shot this a year ago, sky was overcast. In post, I just brightened the scene up and punched up the colors a bit so the rust looks the same way it looked to the human eye.
