- Judge's Critique: The idea behind this photograph is very good. I lowered the score a bit because the shallow depth-of-field hurt the final impression for the viewer. Perhaps if the depth-of-field would have been deeper, it would have worked better. Or alternatively, if the depth of field was extremely shallow, with just the front leaf in good focus, that may have made it a better image. I noticed that this was shot with a 35mm lens which makes control of depth of field difficult. Perhaps a longer lens would have resulted in an image that has more impact.
