I can’t believe it’s already here, but next week our “Travel Photography Conference” officially kicks off! Two days, two tracks, all online, and it’s so going to rock! The conference itself is Wednesday and Thursday of next week, but it kicks off a day early on Tuesday with a special pre-conference session I’m teaching called “What makes a great travel photo?” I’ve got such a great session put together for this pre-con — I can’t wait to share it with the folks who’ve signed up. Deciding Between Lightroom Classic and Lightroom

Back in October of 2017 the program once called Adobe Photoshop Lightroom CC 2015 was rebranded as Lightroom Classic. At the same time Adobe reworked what was previously just a mobile app called Lightroom Mobile into its own “ecosystem” that was designed to function separately from Lightroom Classic (though the original connection between the apps remained), and they named it Lightroom (though for a short time it too was called Lightroom CC). In the years since this change both applications have continued to gain new camera/lens support, interface tweaks, and new features. It does not appear that either one is going away, and that leaves us with choices. It is nice to have choices, but it can also be frustrating and...

How To Update Your Lightroom Copyright Info For 2021

No better way to put the dumpster fire that was 2020 behind you than updating your Copyright metadata in Lightroom to the new (and hopefully improved) year. So, here’s how and where you update it: STEP ONE: Go to the Library Module; go under the Metadata menu and choose “Edit Metadata Presets” as shown here (by the way — even if you don’t have a Copyright template in place, you can use this same menu to create one, so still choose Edit Metadata Presets to get started). STEP TWO: When the Edit Metadata Presets window appears (shown above), choose the name of the preset you want to Edit, and it displays your copyright template info (as seen). STEP THREE: Go to the IPTC...

A Few Things To Tidy Up at Start of Year

With the start of a new year it is a good reminder to do a little house keeping to stay on top of your Lightroom Classic catalog and look to the future. Here’s a few things I did at the start of 2021. Delete Old Backup Copies of the Catalog As long as you know where your working catalog is located, then now is a good time to open the folder containing the backup copies that Lightroom Classic creates, and delete the oldest ones. I usually keep the most recent 3 or 4 in case I need them. I direct my backup copies to be stored in my Dropbox folder so that they are automatically synced to the cloud for an...

Pgytech OneMo 25L Backpack Review

The post Pgytech OneMo 25L Backpack Review appeared first on Digital Photography School. It was authored by Kav Dadfar. When Pgytech first got in touch about doing an Onemo 25L backpack review, I wasn’t familiar with the company. So whilst I waited (not so patiently) for the bag to arrive, I set about finding out a little more about them, their origin, and ethos. Pgytech was formed by a group of young, enthusiastic, and like-minded photographers to create pioneering products that link together seamlessly with photographers’ existing kit. Besides this bag, they have created a load of products for other photography and video equipment such as drones and action cameras. Exploring Batch Editing Options

In this time at home I’ve been trying to learn about focus stacking as a way to keep shooting what is available to me right now. I’ve still got a lot to learn (which is awesome), but it got me thinking about all the many ways Lightroom Classic allows us to increase our post processing efficiency through various batch editing functions. I couldn’t believe how many options there were when I started listing them out. Batching the Baseline The first place to start is by setting your Raw Defaults, so be sure to go through that if you haven’t yet. By customizing your Raw Default setting you are batch editing right out of the gate. The gate, so to speak, is...
