For years, photographers have understood that creating the best photograph possible means shooting in the best possible light. For natural light shooters, the best light often comes at a time known as the golden hour. This occurs when the sun is setting and the angle of the sun to the earth causes the light to travel through clouds and air pollution creating soft, diffused light. The color of this light is warm and the look is beautiful on all skin tones. [ Read More ]Original link(Originally posted by John Ricard)

Since I picked up my first camera about 15 years ago, I’ve loved wildlife photography. While you can capture beautiful wildlife images with a wide range of lenses, nothing beats a telephoto lens for getting close-up shots of your subject. With a long lens, you can photograph wildlife from a safe distance without disturbing them. The drawbacks of most telephoto lenses is that they’re large, heavy and expensive. However, since Canon launched its EOS R mirrorless camera system in 2018, it has developed impressively compact and lightweight RF lenses of all types, including telephoto options. Part of this trend of lighter, more affordable telephoto lenses is due to improved optical technology. Another factor is the Canon RF lens mount itself, which...Photo of Canon RF600mm F11 IS STM and RF800mm F11 IS STM lenses

No matter the genre you shoot, the world we live in often demands content churned out at a breakneck pace, and our attention spans are accordingly attuned to that speed. That can be a mistake that stops us from bringing home our best images. This excellent video essay discusses the importance of slowing down (quite a bit) and why it can bring you better photos. Let’s wrap up my post from last week on using face recognition in Lightroom. If you should ever find a photo of a person within a face group who is not the right person for that face group (or if it is a photo you don’t want assigned that person’s name), you can right-click the photo and choose Remove photo from Person in the contextual menu that appears. If you have a lot of face groups that you want to hide at once, click the three-dot menu in the upper-right while in People View, and choose Show and Hide People. That same three-dot menu also contains options for sorting the face groups by first name, last name, or count (how many...

If you are new to photography and wondering, check out this great video that will teach you what you need to know. [ Read More ]Original link(Originally posted by Alex Cooke)
