Photo By contea2 Today’s Photo of the Day is “The Glorious Amphitheater” by contea2. Location: Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah. “As a person born and raised in Italy, when I used to hear the word ‘amphitheater’, I instinctively thought about a man-made structure, like the Colosseum,” explains contea2. “As a nature lover, I was absolutely amazed by the discovery of the natural amphitheater that Utah has to offer, of which Bryce Canyon is probably my favorite (followed by the Delicate Arch amphitheater). Watching the sun rising from Inspiration Point has been one of my best moments in the US National Parks and an experience that I would like to repeat in the winter when the hoodoos are covered in snow.” Want...

It has now been over two years since Canon first released the EOS R5 and EOS R6 and showed the world they were extremely serious about competing in the professional mirrorless camera space. I suppose this could also be called my using Lightroom to import photos into Lightroom Classic workflow, but that was too long for the title. A few years ago, I mounted a trail camera in the woods behind my house at what appeared to be a bit of a wildlife crossroads. It is just a few minutes’ walk from my backdoor, but we’ve enjoyed glimpses of black bear, white tailed deer, bobcat, coyotes, foxes, and many other critters. It also serves as a good excuse to go take a walk in the woods to check the camera and see who passed by recently. It is a simple and inexpensive trail camera (one of the many cheap ones you can find online)...

We are often taught that when it comes to portraits, soft light is the most flattering, while hard light, which introduces stark shadows and emphasizes skin texture, is to be avoided. While it is true that softer light is considered more flattering, that does not mean you should never use hard light; in fact, it can be fantastic for the right look and scenario. This excellent video tutorial will show you how to shoot and edit a portrait shot in hard, direct sunlight. [ Read More ]Original link(Originally posted by Alex Cooke)
Lake Moultrie is South Carolina’s third-largest lake and was created in the 1940s. It’s fed by its larger neighbor, Lake Marion. Lake Moultrie has shallow swamps, black water ponds and in some areas is still dotted with bald cypress trees, making it a great location for nature and landscape photographers. Most photographers who visit the area will want to use Charleston as their base camp of discovery. Charleston has many affordable hotels and restaurants and some of the best photography spots along the South Carolina coast, including Magnolia Plantation, Folly Beach and Botany Bay, to name just a few. Plan on driving about one hour northwest of Charleston to reach Lake Moultrie. While most of the shoreline is private property, there...

Whenever I visit a city, I try to find viewpoints from which to photograph its skyline. Those are either outside the city's bounds or on top of some of its higher buildings. Accessing those rooftop views often requires an entrance fee or good connections. In Kuala Lumpur, all that's needed is to stay in the right apartment. The Natural History Museum has announced the winners of the Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2022 competition with photographer Karine Aigner taking home the Grand Title award with an image of a ball of cactus bees taken in Texas. “Wings-whirring, incoming males home in on the ball of buzzing bees that is rolling straight into the picture,” says chair of the jury, writer and editor, Rosamund ‘Roz’ Kidman Cox OBE. “The sense of movement and intensity is shown at bee-level magnification and transforms what are little cactus bees into big competitors for a single female.” See a selection of the winners in the gallery below.
