  • Eduardo Schneider's Comments: Entering any photo contest is an act or bravery as it exposes us to a level of criticism – hopefully mostly constructive – many of us are not ready to digest. Whether your photo received a high score or a low score, I have the utmost respect for all the members who entered this contest. When entering a contest, please be mindful, reflect and try to understand what the theme is calling for as this is the first step to be considered as a top entry. In this contest, I have seen many beautiful photos that didn’t feature some of the most common characteristics of a macro or close-up shot: short depth-of-field. Portrait and macro lenses can also yield long depth of field so even though the proper equipment was used, the final result doesn’t fit the theme of this contest. On the other hand, often a specific lens or setting is not necessary to achieve such result. Sometimes, it’s more about lighting and composition than the lens. Some of the photos entered here, show amazing photography talents and yet received a low score purely based on the fact that I didn’t believe it fulfilled the mission the theme called for. Thank you for allowing me to share this thoughts with you and I hope you all take it in the positive and constructive way in which it was intended.
    Best,
    Eduardo
