  • DESCRIPTION AND SETTINGS : Something I think everyone can relate to, that being salt and an American penny. This is the full frame, no cropping. Not quite sure as to the exact magnification.. I took a 105mm and attached an inverted 24mm lens on to it. Both lenses focused at infinity, to get focus I used a slide rail.
  • Judge's Critique: Spilt Salt on Penny: Interesting idea, although I'm not sure what the artistic statement is. The image also seems to be over-sharpened. I would not expect the penny to show that much gritty texture. See the visual critique for a processing idea to tone down the grittiness.
