  • DESCRIPTION AND SETTINGS : I wanted to show the use of the equipment, gloves and face mask, which are used to protect ones self from the COVID-19 virus. I manipulated the image in Lightroom and gave it a Black and White High Contrast treatment. I thought the high contrast conversion gave the image sort of a sinister look which I thought was appropriate to go with the virus which everyone is afraid of getting. I used natural window light to illuminate the subject. The camera was mounted on a tripod.
  • Judge's Critique: Hello John…let me tell you how I see this photograph. The image’s crop and composition are appropriate. The exposure looks considering the potential for over exposing any portion of the white surfaces. Monochrome was the right choice. The frame within a frame for your face works. Your face seems a little soft, but I don’t think that is a bad thing. We always go to the eyes and/or the in focus areas of an image first. For this shot I saw your eyes first and then my attention pulled to your in focus hands, then back to the eyes, and back to the hands, and if I decide to look around in the frame, I’m pulled back to the eyes and then the hands, and then back…you get the idea.

I have no suggestions for improvement.
