Come join us for our for a journey into the world of Steampunk at  the Gold Coast Railroad Museum where characters in costume will interact in a very appropriate venue for the theme.   Learn better photography from fellow KCC members and possibly get some "hands-on" time with a portable studio flash setup by Robert Sullivan Photography.

What is Steampunk?  Steampunk is a science fiction subgenre fantasy inspired by an alternate reality of the industrial revolution in the British Victorian and American "Wild West" era that advanced only as far as steam power.  "Advanced machinery" and gadgets, without the predomination of electricity and petroleum, are featured as if they evolved in a post-apocalyptic future and melded with Victorian era and wild west cowboy fashion.

Come join the members of KCC as we photograph the many costumed characters among the trains and related scenes that will be featured at the Gold Coast Railroad Museum.  Robert Sullivan will be demonstrating the use of radio transmitter triggered studio strobes powered by battery packs and conducting two mini-workshops of two hours each (free with admission).  Learn from him and other KCC members how to photograph the costumed characters in appropriate settings with and without supplemental flash.

Admission is only $10 and the mini-workshops are free with admission.

The event opens at 11am and we will meet just inside the entrance of the museum at noon to explore the venue for an hour.  The two portable studio flash mini-workshops will be held from 1-3pm and 7:30-9:30pm.  Nikon shooters might have an opportunity to use Robert's flash triggers with his studio lights.  He might also borrow triggers for Canon for the event, but if you have your own transmitters/receivers your are welcome to bring them to possibly use with his lighting.

If you arrive late or are unable to locate the field trip group, call Robert on his cell phone at 305-986-9781.

Here are some of the other features of this event that runs from 11am through 11pm:

Food trucks, vendors, live bands, a sci-fi Theater Train with short films, hat contest, English Tea Room, Wicked Shakespeare play, and much more.  Check out this program of activities:
