Photo Of The Day David Connel

Today’s Photo Of The Day is “Flight Deck” by David Connel. Location: Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge, New Mexico.

“I have photographed birds at Bosque del Apache several times,” explains Connel. “My main strategy is to scout the fields and find out where the birds are feeding during the day. I position myself upwind from the birds, since they take off into the wind, and wait for the action to happen. Sometimes this can take many hours. In this case, my patience paid off. A coyote stalking the birds in the background panicked them into flight and alarmed the foreground birds, creating this image.”

Exposure: 1/500 sec., f/8, ISO 320, 330mm.
