Shooting into the sun can do anything from providing a nice visual element and contrast to creating stunning rays that cascade across the frame. Because of the extremely bright (and often partially blown out) source of light in the frame, it can sometimes require some specialized editing techniques, and this helpful video tutorial will show you everything you need to know to produce the best possible images. It was only a matter of time before Canon would release a true macro lens for the RF mount. Instead of an RF version of the ever-so-popular EF 100mm macro lens, Canon had a little surprise up its sleeve. I got a chance to review this amazing lens. There are many combinations and properties of light, all of which have different consequences and effects on both the technical and creative aspects of your images. Seascapes can be beautiful and it's almost impossible to shoot the same image twice, so the genre can keep pulling you back in. The Canon EOS R5 received most of the fanfare when it was first announced alongside the EOS R6, but the latter is no slouch, and in some ways, it might be the more appropriate and balanced camera for a lot of photographers and filmmakers. This great video review takes a look at the camera and the kind of performance you can expect from it in the real world. [ Read More ]Original link(Originally posted by Alex Cooke)
Perhaps one of the biggest moral debates I have with myself is when I look at the good work of “bad” photographers — work that has a life of its own and work that has become culturally significant. Yet, that work has a dark side to it: the creator. Is it possible to look at photographs without ever thinking about the photographer behind them? In our October/November 2021 issue of Outdoor Photographer on print and digital newsstands now, we feature a gorgeous portfolio of Kristi Odom’s black-and-white wildlife photography.  We thought it would be fungi to share a remarkable mushroom timelapse that Odom created. In this short video, you’ll witness the growth of several unique mushroom types. “One thing I learned over the last couple of years,” Odom tells us about the video, “is that you don’t have to go far to marvel at nature. This journey led me into creating art from home, including growing my own mushrooms and capturing it on my Nikon Z 7II using its interval timing setting.” The post Incredible Mushroom Timelapse appeared first on Outdoor Photographer. There are lots of numbers that come into play when it comes to photography: shutter speeds, f-stops, lens focal lengths, digital sensor multiplying factors and fill flash ratios are some of the obvious. One number that doesn’t often pop into photographers’ minds is the number of subjects in a photo. The importance behind this deals with composition. There’s a compositional fact that states: When including an even number of similar subjects, it is more difficult to create a successful composition than when an odd number of subjects appear. The obvious even number that comes to mind is two. Unless it relates to people, when two subjects are the primary elements in a photo, they compete with one another for attention. When...

One of the neatest things about early digital photography was that because few things were really standardized, there were numerous interesting designs and experiments with features.
