Location: Rangeley, Maine. “Another angle on another evening in the Rangeley Lakes Region of Maine,” says Lichtman. “While apps and Google Earth are great to help find shooting locations, sometimes just exploring an area by kayak makes for some fine discoveries. For this composition, I wanted to balance the water areas around the stand of Northern White Cedar and make use of the still water reflections created by the natural rock jetties. But then I remembered the old pocket knife I found in the dirt and cleaned up a little, it has some great weathering! A smattering of rust, some scratches and some pitting in the blade, too. “Weathered” – worn by long exposure to the atmosphere; weather-beaten. Old timber, steel, Toys are a good one, A rusted roof… The list, as ever, goes on for a while!
