Today’s Photo of the Day is “Clash of Seasons in the Maroon Wilderness” by Clayton Peoples. Location: Colorado. “The Maroon Bells are purportedly the most photographed mountains in Colorado,” explains Peoples. “Yet, despite the fact that it’s frequently visited/photographed, it takes luck to arrive when fall colors are peaking below the mountains—and even more luck to capture snow on the peaks. I was lucky enough to encounter both on a recent trip to Colorado.” Want to get your images in the running for a Photo of the Day feature? Since Lightroom and Photoshop introduced their automatic sky selections, changes to the sky in landscape and architecture photos have become very easy. But, how good are those automatic selections? If you edit photos for web representation alone, they are mostly good enough. But if you intend to print your photos, you might want to improve them, which is what I show in this article. After many years of non-pro iPhones, Apple’s new 48-megapixel iPhone 14 Pro was enough to convince me to pull the trigger. I was ready to fall into the embrace of Apple’s AI-assisted ProRAW format. While it has its uses, in its current state it’s still kind of a mixed bag. [ Read More ]Original link(Originally posted by Wasim Ahmad)

In recent years, Tamron has shown that they intend on creating impressively versatile and often innovative zoom lenses that can take the place of several others in a photographer's bag. One such lens is the 50-400mm f/4.5-6.3 Di III VC VXD, which covers everything from normal to supertelephoto focal lengths. This great video review takes a look at the lens and the sort of performance and image quality you can expect from it in practice. [ Read More ]Original link(Originally posted by Alex Cooke)

The post Weekly Photography Challenge – Abstract appeared first on Digital Photography School. It was authored by Sime. We tried the theme ‘Abstract’ once before, but didn’t get a whole lot of photos posted – let’s try it again, this time with vigour! (And a better description of ‘Abstract in Photography’ below!) Go out (or stay in!) and make an abstract photograph! Spill some milk on the floor and photograph the edge of it close up? Make a seemingly unreal appearance from real objects – most of all, have fun! Remember, tag your posts with #dPSWeeklyChallenge and #dPSAbstract22 This is what Wikipedia gives me: “Abstract photography, sometimes called non-objective, experimental or conceptual photography, is a means of depicting a visual image that...Weekly Photography Challenge – Abstract

Laowa now has a total of six lenses with an aperture of f/0.95, so how useful is it to have this aperture, and what are the results? As a landscape photographer mainly, this maximum aperture is something I had never really considered, although I do understand the usefulness of such an aperture for different types of photography, especially in low light and video. So, how does the lens perform throughout the apertures, and does it have the ability to provide results that are in line with or better than similar lenses in this price range? I tested it to find out. [ Read More ]Original link(Originally posted by Gary McIntyre)
Rafting the Gates of Lodore section of the Green River through Dinosaur National Monument offers photographers a wide range of geology and dramatic canyon walls to observe. After feeling trapped at home for the past couple of years, I think it is fair to say that most of us nature photographers are going a bit stir crazy looking forward to finally getting out shooting more often again. With this desire to resume travel comes the fact that more and more photographers are visiting the same crowded locations. With overcrowded parks and permit systems becoming more common in places like Glacier and Yosemite National Parks, perhaps it’s time to explore some lesser-visited parks and monuments around the country. The site of one...

The post Canon to Release an EOS R8 or EOS R9 in 2023 appeared first on Digital Photography School. It was authored by Jaymes Dempsey. Over the past few months, a handful of Canon gear announcements and rumors have made waves in the photography community – including reports of an upcoming EOS R5 Mark II and EOS R50 – and earlier this week, Canon Rumors revealed yet another tidbit for Canon fans to appreciate.  According to CR, Canon is developing a mirrorless camera that will sit “between the EOS R7 and EOS R10…from a price standpoint.” And while CR can’t offer any confirmed specs, the rumor site believes that the “EOS R8/EOS R9…will have a different form factor and could possibly...

Photographers have preferences on everything ranging from their favorite camera to their best lens, how they edit their photos, and what photo paper they use to make prints.
