Here’s a quick video I did for Lightroom beginners where I explain the whole concept of organizing using Collection Sets (they’re called folders in LR ‘cloud), and why they are so incredibly helpful when organizing your photos. The whole video is only 7-minutes or so, but you’ll learn a lot, and you’ll want to start using these right away. Check it out below: Those rock, right? I couldn’t keep everything organized without them, and I hope you’ll give them a try. You Don’t Have to Settle For The Image That Comes Out Of The Camera That’s what I covered today over on my daily photography blog, and I show a before/after clip of editing a Raw image (seen above and submitted...🙂

Before the digital era, you could still shoot panoramic photographs, but you generally had to resort to using a special kind of camera to do so, especially if you wanted the best possible image quality. This neat video follows a landscape photographer as he uses an absolute behemoth of a camera to create a special panoramic print. [ Read More ]Original link(Originally posted by Alex Cooke)
When it comes to the beauty and diversity of the surrounding landscape, not many rivers in the United States can compete with the Arkansas River. At 1,469 miles, it’s the sixth-longest river in the United States, flowing eastward from Colorado through Kansas and Oklahoma before finally emptying into the mighty Mississippi River in Arkansas. The first stretch is clearly the most spectacular section: From its source high up in the rugged Sawatch Range of Colorado’s Rocky Mountains, “The Arkansas” is a raging stream of crystal-clear snowmelt water, cascading downhill and thundering through awe-inspiring canyons, dropping more than 10,000 feet in elevation on the first 125 miles. It’s no surprise that this part of the river has become America’s favorite destination for...

What started out as a quirky and fun camera has evolved into a highly capable professional tool in its fifth generation — all without losing any of the unique personality that first endeared it to photographers. This excellent video review takes a look at the new model and the sort of image quality and performance you can expect from it in practice. [ Read More ]Original link(Originally posted by Alex Cooke)

The Winter Olympics are underway, and just like the summer version, the games have drawn a ton of photographers from all around the planet to capture some of the world's best athletes in action. One photographer is not having the best day, though, as they lost their grip on their camera, causing it to take a very, very, very long tumble down the ski hill, as NBC cameras captured its escape. Photo By Craig Bill Today’s Photo Of The Day is “Starquest Type3:2” by Craig Bill. Location: Antelope Canyon, Arizona. “I’ve seen Antelope Canyon several times in the popular daytime— complete with crowds and noise,” says Bill. “In fact, this magical slot canyon is well known for its mid-day shafts of light that creatively penetrate through the curvy sandstone. I had always wondered what this place would be like at night. And when I had a last-minute chance to go the first time, I jumped! Although the first night was super clouded and windy, I was allowed to try the next night before my time ran out exploring this desert domain around Page, Arizona. I was lucky, however, to find the next...

Renaming folders is one of those tedious tasks that is often a source of self-inflicted injury to many Lightroom Classic (LrC) users. The process is simple in LrC, and yes, there is a way to do it outside of LrC (but it is even more tedious). The key to understanding why you want to do this in LrC is that the path to where each photo is stored on your computer is what LrC uses to find and access your photos. On a Mac, that path starts with the volume name and on Windows the path starts with the drive letter, but in both cases the path goes on to include every folder and subfolder down to the actual filename of...
