Many photographers start their careers by learning natural lighting techniques. Once these skills are established, complacency can set in and the photographer might choose not to stretch themselves to learn more advanced lighting skills. When photographers do this, they leave a significant amount of value on the table. There are many ways in which learning Off Camera Flash (OCF) will elevate your value both technically and in the market as a photographer. This article will discuss the many ways in which OCF can transform your work and why taking the plunge into learning this... [ Read More ]Original link(Originally posted by Austin Miller)
Back in the June 2022 update I mentioned that Adobe added the ability to edit video in the Lightroom (cloud) family of apps. I got a chance to use it this week, and wanted to share how it worked. I captured a time lapse of the Milky Way using the built-in time lapse feature of the Canon R10. This allows you to configure all of the settings, fine tune exposure with test shots, then start the time lapse process of recoding a final MP4 video completely in camera. For landscape photography, a sturdy, versatile tripod is arguably the best investment you can make for sharper images—and sharpness is critical for successful photographs. Unintentional softness and blur will render photos of even the most stunning scenes unusable. That’s true for every photographic subject, but especially for richly detailed landscape compositions. Though modern image stabilization systems in cameras and lenses can help, even the most sophisticated systems have limitations, especially in low-light shooting conditions such as sunrise and sunset which landscape photographers usually prefer. In addition to ensuring maximum stability to optimize sharpness, shooting from a tripod can also help in the process of precisely refining your framing of the scene, and tripods are essential for techniques like focus stacking and...Image of the K&F CONCEPT X324C4 carbon fiber tripod with legs splayed

Macro lenses give you the power to magnify and observe the world around you with much greater detail than possible with just your unaided eyes. This is an incredible, singular power, capable of completely changing your perspective on life and the natural world around you. To be able to see clearly into lives smaller than your own through macro insect photography is an extremely enlightening and humbling experience. Phidippus mystaceus jumping spider. The post Nikon Z7 vs Z7 II: Which Camera Should You Buy? appeared first on Digital Photography School. It was authored by Ana Mireles. In this article, I share an in-depth comparison of the Nikon Z7 vs Z7 II. Note that the Z7 II is the latest version of the Z7 line, so – as you might expect – it is better than its predecessor, the Z7, at least in most respects. The real question is not whether the Z7 II is the superior camera, but whether it’s worth the extra cost (and for those who already own the Z7, whether it’s worth the upgrade). So if you’re struggling to decide between these two cameras, or if you’re on the fence...Nikon Z7 vs Nikon Z7 II

24-70mm f/2.8 lenses are the workhorses of choice for a huge range of photographers and filmmakers, as they offer a very versatile focal length range in tandem with a wide maximum aperture. Nonetheless, not everyone needs that f/2.8 aperture, and if you are willing to exchange that for f/4, you can get even more focal length range at a reduced price. For Canon shooters, one such lens is the RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM, and this great video review takes a look at the performance and image quality you can expect from it in practice. Once upon a time, we would learn a skill, practice it, hone it, and that would be our main area of expertise and way of making a living. In 2022, however, it would seem that mastering your camera, actually taking photos, editing them, and then applying that skill might not be everything you need to be a successful photographer in today's climate.
