The post The Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8G ED: A Practical Review appeared first on Digital Photography School. It was authored by Barry J Brady. This article was updated in May 2024 using original contributions from Barry J Brady. Invest in your lenses. Camera bodies will come and go, but a good lens can last a very long time. That was the advice I received when I started taking my photography seriously. Initially, it seemed a bit ridiculous. I bought a cheap 70-300mm lens and used it at the first wedding I photographed. I thought the images were fantastic until I bought a better lens a year later. It was only then that I realized how much of a difference a good lens...Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8G ED review

The post How to Create a Vintage Look in Lightroom (A Hands-On Tutorial) appeared first on Digital Photography School. It was authored by Andrew S. Gibson. Photos with a vintage look evoke the appearance of faded prints captured decades ago. Vintage-effect images often include color casts introduced by film stock, and they (ideally) give the viewer a sense of nostalgia. But while vintage processing effects are popular – if you spend a few minutes scrolling through Instagram, you’re bound to hit upon a vintage image! – there’s not a specific vintage look that all photographers agree on. In this article, I’m going to explain how you might go about creating a vintage look in Lightroom. However, it’s important to bear in...How to create the vintage look in Lightroom

When you are trying to build yourself into the artist you want to be, a little ordinary can help you do the extraordinary. As I’m sitting down to write this, I’ve just had a quick peek over at the clock in the upper right-hand corner of my screen. It has just rounded 5:43 am, and I’ve already been at work long enough to have long forgotten about the sleep I wiped from my eyes when I rolled out of bed. To some, this might seem like an early time. Others might be wondering why I slept in so late. The exact time on the clock isn’t important. What is important is that this is all part... Here’s a funny thing that happened to me. I guess this option has been in the Lightroom (Lr) app for iOS for a few years, but I only just discovered it by accident, which seems to be the only way anyone ever uses it. As best as I can tell, it isn’t available in Lr on Mac, Win, or Android, but if you are determined, you might be able to find it at lightroom.adobe.com. What I’m referring to is the menu option, Only show in Shared Photos, hidden in the 3-dot menu next to an album that is already enabled for sharing. This is it on an iPhone. What happened is that I didn’t even notice it, and fat-finger hit it...

I’ve worked with more and more photographers over the years, and a commonality between many of them is that they only have their photos in one place, which will inevitably lead to tragedy. If this is you, or you struggle with catalog management, or you have a bunch of unorganized drives, then this guide is for you. If you've ever lost your data before, you know how absolutely devastating it can be when you have no plan in place for redundancy.
