I found this gem at the Shops of Sunset Place in South Miami. This urban shopping mall is deteriorating from lack of maintenance. Where there is steel there is rust. When I saw this little plant growing out of this huge metal structure I knew there was an interesting picture to be had. I was intrigued by the bright red color. The physical structure with straight lines, diagonal lines, circles, and bolts sticking out gives this image impact. The juxtaposition of this tiny delicate plant and the massive steel structure brings me pleasure. Wherever nature finds an opportunity something will grow. I almost named this "Survival of the Fittest." As a bonus I thought the leaves of the plant resembled a stick figure of a man. There are many interesting things to shoot at this ghost like mall. It is scheduled to be demolished and replaced. So if you want to do a photo shoot here don't delay. It will probably be gone before long.
This image captures a quiet moment of closeness between two tulips, evoking a sense of tenderness—perhaps even love.
Photographed with a Fujifilm X-H2S and a LensBaby Velvet 56mm at f/4, 1/160 sec, ISO 400.
A tripod was essential, as precise manual focusing with the LensBaby at this aperture can be challenging. The scene was softly lit using only natural window light, complemented by a small silver reflector.
Post-processing was done in ON1 Photo RAW and Nik Color Effex Pro. A subtle texture was added to enhance the background and bring a painterly atmosphere to the composition. I hope you enjoy it.

This image was taken in February of 2025. I was walking around downtown South Miami and checking out the alleyways. I find lots of interesting things to shot in alleyways. This wall caught my eye. I was intrigued by the patterns created by the exterior wiring conduit. I like the simplicity of this image. I liked the subtle texture of the plaster on the wall. The squiggly crack line coming from the window was in contrast to the other square lines. I thought that outlier line added character and interest. Minimal post processing was done in LRC.
This image tells a quiet story—a gentle contrast between two blooms. One rises, reaching for the light with quiet confidence, while the other bows low, perhaps weary, contemplative, or in subtle disagreement with its taller companion.
Photographed with a Fujifilm X-H2S and a LensBaby Velvet 56mm at f/4, 1/60 sec, ISO 500.
The flowers are part of a chamomile bunch purchased at Trader Joe’s. I carefully isolated this pair, arranging the rest of the bouquet behind them to echo the feeling of wild growth. Special attention was given to composition—ensuring the background flowers did not merge but rather framed the main characters, in order not to become a distraction, but to instead complement the chosen pair.
Soft window light and a silver reflector brought out the delicate tones, while a tripod allowed for precise manual focus.
Post-processed in ON1 Photo RAW and Nik Collection Color Efex Pro, with a textured background added to introduce a sense of movement and painterly mood.

This photo was taken at the Orlando Wetlands last month in the afternoon on a bright and sunny day. I watched these two American coots flight and chase each other across the water for a while. They are super fast and quick on the move!

I took this photo a year ago while visiting London, UK. My hotel was nearby and I scouted the location. I saw it during the day and thought that it would make a really good evening shot of the tower bridge. This is not the usual photo of the Tower Bridge. I placed the camera on a ledge and set a timer for the shot to avoid camera shake. I touched the photo up in Lightroom to tone down the lights.

This is the lighthouse on the shores of the city of Pátras--The third largest in Greece. I took this photo last December while exploring the city. I used a filter on the lens to create the white halo. I did light touchups in Lightroom for color, contrast and a little vignetting.
