Volunteers Needed for Upcoming Pinecrest Event

I could use a few volunteers for shooting a Parks and Recreation event this Saturday, May 6th at Evelyn Greer Park between 10am and 2pm.  Please email me if you plan to volunteer.  This is Fit Kids Day, so there will be a lot of opportunities to capture endearing children doing fitness events. Pulitzer award winner Al Diaz Presentation Night.

Last night, more than 70 KCC members and guests had the opportunity to enjoy a fabulous  presentation by  Miami photojournalist Al Diaz who is a member of The Miami Herald news team that won the Pulitzer Prize Gold Medal for the newspaper's coverage of Hurrican e Andrew and the McClatchy President's Award for Journalism Excellence for coverage of the devastating earthquake in Haiti, just to mention a few.   Al talked about the ins and outs about photo journalism at the Herald, including news and sports, a breakdown of the lighting used to create Marlin's owner Jeff Loria portrait, portrait shoots with Labron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. Many questions came from the attentive audience about techniques, camera settings...b2ap3_thumbnail__WWR5789-2-wm.jpg

Photographing Pinecrest Events

F or several years, The Village of Pinecrest has sponsored the Kendall Camera Club by providing us with a home for our events and meetings throughout the year. In exchange, the KCC gives back by photographing several of the city's events. We are always looking for volunteers to help photograph each of these events and at the same time promote our club's activities with the local community. If you would like to help by volunteering and practicing event photography, these are excellent opportunities to go out and learn. You will be able to practice indoors, outdoors, and, for example how and when to use ambient light, flash, etc.   Please contact Walter @ 305-343-0428 or This email address is being protected from spambots. Wakodahatchee Wetlands April 21, 2012 - Field Trip Report

KCC - FIELD TRIP REPORT Wakodahatchee Wetlands – Delray Beach, Florida April 21, 2012 By:  Lorraine Thomas I hope you enjoy my Field Trip Report.  It’s main purpose is to offer help for you to take better bird photographs, inspire you to photograph birds, and also to motivate you to go to Wakodahatchee Wetlands soon .  There is so much bird activity going on there right now.  It is quite amazing that this beautiful place exists in the midst of a residential area.  Secondly, to show that even the cloudiest of days can turn out to be amazing for photography.  I’m lucky I was leading the Field Trip, otherwise, I know I would have stayed home and missed out. As...

The Photographer's Eye Book Group

I had a fantastic time at our first meeting this morning!  We had an awesome discussion about inspiring images that make me want to know more about how to create focal points, framing, and lines within a photograph. Yevette and Alberto shared great images of photography, as well as fine art, that inspired conversation about composition.  Everyone brought books to consider, and the decision was made to center our meetings around The Photographer's Eye.   Two of my favorite characteristics of KCC are the depth of knowledge and the genuine warmth of its members, and today was no exception.  I think it will be an awesome group! The book : The Photographer's Eye by Michael Freeman.   Current focus:  Stone Building...Image

Halloween Shoot at Evelyn Greer Park

This year, we again had a blast photographing Pinecrest families on Halloween Night. Parents and children bravely participated in the event in spite of the persistent rain. If they could endure - so would The Kendall Camera Club! Because of the weather, Plan B went into place - just one off camera flash, instead of the light setup that was originally planned for the day.  A definite "go with the flow" attitude. The entire setup including the Halloween background, seating arrangements, line control and pictures, was made possible by members of the KENDALL CAMERA CLUB that volunteered to contribute to this wonderful Village of Pinecrest event.     VOLUNTEERS: Ibis Hillencamp, Alina Boisjoly, Windsor Fleming, Albert Rodriguez,  Melissa Rodriguez, Lorraine Thomas,...
